Basaksehir crowned Turkish champions for first time

Istanbul side Basaksehir celebrated their first ever Turkish top flight title on Sunday following a defeat for their closest rivals.
Trabzonspor's defeat to Konyaspor left Basaksehir, managed by former Turkish international Okan Buruk, four points clear with a match to play.
They become the sixth club to clinch the title after Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Trabzonspor and Bursaspor.
Promoted to the first division in 2014 they have become a significant power thanks initially to the work of former boss Abdullah Avci, who left to coach Besiktas last season.
Their title-winning campaign did not start encouragingly with two straight defeats for a side that has come in for criticism over its lack of a fan base and the political connections of its directors.
