Handanovic joined Inter Milan in 2012 from Serie A rivals Udinese and has made 195 appearances in all competitions.
The 33-year-old has won the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award twice -- in 2011 after helping Udinese avoid relegation, and in 2013 with Inter.
Luciano Spalletti's side are second in Serie A this season two points behind leaders Napoli having conceded 10 goals in 14 games.
