Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt has joined Portuguese champions Benfica on a free transfer after being released by English club Queen's Park Rangers.

Taarabt, 26, was a free agent following QPR's relegation from the Premiership at the end of last season.

He has signed a five-year deal with Benfica, the Portuguese club announced on social media sites.
